Blake Angliss Determined To Bounce Back After Snetterton Despair

Motorsport rising star Blake Angliss is ready to put a nightmare Snetterton event behind him and push for a positive end to the 2026 British GT Championship season across the final two rounds next month.

Angliss and team-mate Revie Lake saw two moments completely outside of their control derail their quest for silverware across the fourth round of the 2026 season in Norfolk (15-16 August), continuing their luckless campaign in the #84 McLaren Artura GT4.

After a tricky start in pre-event testing on Friday due to red flag stoppages causing limited running, hard work with the Paddock Motorsport team through free practice on Saturday ensured they made a big step in the right direction with the car ahead of qualifying.

Lake produced a great effort in his session to secure third on the grid for race one, however it proved to be a frustrating run for Angliss. The Coventry-based racer didn’t quite managed to hook up his lap, with a small mistake costing him crucial time and leaving him ninth quickest.

The opening one-hour race on Saturday was sadly over before it had really begun. Heading into the Wilson hairpin for the first time, an out-of-control move from another driver led to heavy contact with Lake. The subsequent damage took him out of the race immediately.

Paddock got the car fixed in time for race two that afternoon. Angliss was eager to bounce back from his qualifying frustration and make progress through his stint, however the YorPower, Transend UK and TrigPoint Security backed driver encountered another bout of bad luck.

Whilst looking to make early progress, a sudden puncture forced him into the pitlane. While a quick tyre change from the team kept them on the lead lap, no safety car period during the race meant they were unable to get onto the back of the pack and gain any positions, leaving them ninth at the flag.

Blake Angliss: “It’s hard to put in to words just how frustrating this weekend ended up. To have not one, but two races destroyed by moments completely outside our control is unbelievable and just the latest chapter in a season full of misfortune.

“We worked hard with the team to make progress with the car through testing and free practice. We got it into a good window ahead of qualifying and Revie showed the potential in the car, so I was disappointed that it didn’t quite go to plan in my session.

“Our car is always stronger in the races than qualifying, so we were confident heading into Sunday. Sadly, we didn’t get the opportunity to show it at all though and we can only hope that luck turns in our favour ready for the final two rounds of the season.”

The penultimate round of the 2026 British GT Championship takes place at Donington Park next month (05-06 September), before the season finale three weeks’ later at Brands Hatch (26-27 September).
