Blake Angliss Signs Off British GT Season With Brands Hatch Podium

Blake Angliss brought the 2026 British GT Championship season to a close with a hard-fought Silver class podium finish in the two-hour finale race at Brands Hatch (26-27 September).

Coming in off the back of a superb first overall GT4 race win last time out at Donington Park alongside team-mate Revie Lake, Angliss returned to Brands Hatch with fond memories of securing a Silver class podium at the Kent circuit twelve months ago.

With no official testing ahead of the event, they had to hit the ground running in free practice on Saturday. Angliss did exactly that in their McLaren Artura GT4, with the Coventry-based racer continuing where he left off at Donington by setting the quickest GT4 time in both sessions.

The Paddock Motorsport crew were confident they’d be in the fight for pole position in qualifying, and ultimately just missed out on top spot. Both Angliss and Lake lapped in the top three in their respective sessions, with their combined efforts securing them a front-row start for Sunday’s two-hour race.

Angliss was behind the wheel at the start of the race and produced a brilliant opening stint. Holding position through the busy opening few laps, he started to stretch his legs and rapidly pull a gap to the chasing pack and strengthen his grip on second position in GT4.

The YorPower, Transend UK and TrigPoint Security backed driver saw his efforts rewarded with an advantage of over 30 seconds heading into the pitstops. This would go some way to overcoming their 45-seconds worth of pitstop compensation penalties earned from their Donington win.

The #84 McLaren emerged in third overall in GT4 with Lake behind the wheel, and he soon grabbed second position on the road. There would be disappointment for the team however, as they were handed a drive-through penalty for a pitstop infringement.

After serving the penalty, Lake ran fourth in the Silver class. The teenager was determined to reach the podium though and impressively closed down an eight-second gap to the BMW ahead, before pulling off a move with minutes to spare to net them a richly-deserved podium to end the campaign.

Blake Angliss: “It’s a bittersweet feeling. We’re really pleased to end an up and down season with a podium finish in the Silver class, but we know that without the penalty for a minor issue in the pitstop, we’d have been up there in the overall top three in GT4.

“Paddock Motorsport gave us a great car from the first lap of free practice and it was a big confidence booster topping the times in both those sessions. We knew qualifying would take it up a level and it was a shame to just miss out on pole, but we gave ourselves a great starting position for the race.

“We were very confident in our race pace, it’s been a strength of the McLaren all season, but it was always going to be a difficult task with the 45-second pitstop compensation penalty. I’m proud of my stint then, I did the hard work to build a big gap to the car behind and get ourselves in a good place for the pitstop.

“The penalty for the pitstop was painful, as we were that close to being in the fight for the overall podium, but Revie did a great job to bring home the Silver trophy. The past two rounds have been hugely positive, I’ve shown I’ve got the pace to be up there at the front of the field, and that gives me momentum and confidence heading into the winter and 2027.”
