Blake Angliss has brought his second season in the British GT Championship to a close with his best-ever weekend in the series, converting a maiden pole position into a brilliant overall podium finish at Donington Park this past weekend (04-05 October).
After making a welcome return to the British GT podium in the penultimate round at Brands Hatch last month, Angliss headed to Donington Park determined to end the season on a high note by challenging for more silverware with the Mahiki Racing team.
Returning to the scene of his maiden British GT podium last year, the Coventry-based rising star got back up to speed around the 2.49-mile Grand Prix circuit during pre-event testing on Thursday and set a competitive pace from the off in his Ginetta G56 GT4 Evo.
Angliss and his team-mate Luke Garlick had limited meaningful running during Saturday’s practice sessions due to red flag stoppages and changeable weather conditions, but that didn’t stop them from producing an exceptional qualifying performance later that day.
After Garlick went fastest of all in the opening ten-minute session, Angliss followed it up with a great lap of his own to finish just three thousandths of a second off top spot in his segment. Their combined efforts secured the #69 Ginetta crew the overall GT4 pole position, their first in the championship.
Garlick started behind the wheel for Sunday’s two-hour race and made a rapid start, pulling a lead of almost five seconds within the opening 15 minutes of the race. His advantage was cruelly taken away though, as a sudden puncture on the Ginetta forced him to make an unscheduled pitstop.
Luck was on their side however as it came during a safety car period, meaning they were able to line up at the rear of the field for the restart. Garlick went on to make quick progress up the order, moving his way up to fourth in GT4 within a handful of laps and eventually getting as high as second.
After the mid-race mandatory pitstop, Angliss remained in second place. His introduction to the race quickly became a testing one, as a rain shower overhead led to him taking on the tricky combination of slick tyres on an increasingly wet track surface.

While that caught out a number of drivers on the grid, the 22-year-old talent truly excelled. Showcasing his superb car control, he swiftly closed down an 11-second deficit to the eventual GT4 title-winning McLaren ahead and stormed into the race lead with just over 20 minutes remaining.
The YorPower and Transend UK backed driver had his sights set on victory, however as conditions began to improve, it became clear their Ginetta didn’t quite have the pace to match the McLaren on a drier circuit. While Angliss eventually slipped to second place overall, it still marked a superb result for the Mahiki Racing crew alongside Silver class honours.
Blake Angliss: “It was a typical rollercoaster weekend in the British GT Championship, so it’s a fantastic feeling to come away from it with another podium finish to my name. We had to work hard for it and I’m delighted we could bring home the result for the team.
“We had a couple of mishaps in testing on Thursday, but they were rectified and we were able to make some good progress through free practice. Come qualifying, the car was in a great place and everything finally came together for us to achieve our first pole position.
“Luke made a brilliant start to the race, but once again we had some bad luck with the puncture and the race was made much harder than it should have been. The car was rapid in the tricky conditions though and Luke was able to get us back into contention.
“It was pretty sketchy on the slick tyres in the wet, but I really enjoyed it out there and the car really came alive. Therefore it was a touch frustrating that the ultimate pace wasn’t there to match the McLaren when it dried out at the end, but I kept pushing right through to the chequered flag.
“To finish only a second behind the winner, having dropped to the back with the puncture, shows just how good our pace was. I’m happy with my contribution, this was by far my best overall weekend in British GT so far, and it’s fired me up even more to get a full race programme together for 2026.”
With multiple podium finishes under his belt in one of the world’s foremost domestic GT championships, Angliss is now exploring some exciting avenues for the 2026 race season as he looks to launch the next chapter of his blossoming racing career. He has some great commercial opportunities available for prospective partners to join him next year and interested parties are invited to get in touch with him via email.
