Brea Angliss tackled endurance racing for the first time this past weekend (16/17 May), producing a standout performance in the BRSCC Silverstone 24 Hours as part of an all-female entry with Silverlake Motorsport.

The exciting opportunity to make her long-awaited return to racing came alongside Freya Belk, Lexie Belk and Briannie Davis behind the wheel of a Citroen C1 for the hugely-popular event, which this year featured a bumper 50-car entry battling it out across 24-hours of intense competition.

Getting to grips with the C1 for the first time in pre-event testing, Angliss quickly established herself as the quickest driver in the #458 line-up. She led the way for them in qualifying on Friday evening, posting a 3m 03.513s lap of the full 3.66-mile Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

That put the Coventry-based racer 42nd fastest overall and 34th of the Citroen C1 entrants, an impressive performance against competition with vastly more experience in the cars. Come the race, she had to wait until darkness had fallen before she tackled her first race stint.

Adapting quickly to racing at night for the first time, she produced fast and consistent laps across a lengthy two hour and 35-minute stint. Her efforts consolidated the team’s position inside the top 20 overall, following great progress from her team-mates in the early stages.

They could have been even higher up the order too, however an issue with a fuel leak in the night cost them almost ten-minutes in the pitlane for repairs. Angliss was back behind the wheel in the morning for her second stint, before being given the honour of taking the final 90-minutes to the finish.

The 18-year-old ended the race on the high note with the team’s fastest lap of the race on the penultimate tour, before bringing the car home in 20th overall and fifth in the C1 AM class. She completed over six hours behind the wheel through the race, contributing 114 laps of the team’s total of 419.

Brea Angliss: “The Silverstone 24 Hours is one of the most unique events in British motorsport, and it’s unlike anything I’ve competed in before. It was a good opportunity to get some endurance racing experience under my belt and I really enjoyed the whole event.

“Competing as part of an all-female driver line-up was good fun with Freya, Lexie and Briannie. We made a good team and got to grips quickly with the car, with good teamwork alongside Silverlake Motorsport ensuring we made great progress through the race.

“If it wasn’t for the time lost in the night, we would have been on the class podium, but we’re still very proud of finishing fifth in class and moving forward 22 places overall. That’s a great achievement for our first time racing this car and getting to grips with endurance racing.

“My final stint was so enjoyable, scrapping it out with two other cars and switching places almost every lap. To finish it off with our fastest lap of the race was the icing on the cake, and this whole experience has made me determined to get back racing again as soon as possible.”

Brea Angliss is exploring some exciting opportunities for the next step of her racing career. The promising young female talent has some great commercial opportunities available for prospective partners to join her motorsport journey.
