Blake Angliss Moves Up To GT4 SuperCup ‘Pro-Am’ Class

Blake Angliss has made an exciting move ahead of his debut season in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, with the talented young racer making the decision to step into the championship’s Pro Am class.

Angliss had initially chosen to enter the new-for-2021 GT Pro category, however with a focus on maximising his driver development in his first season in the championship with Century Motorsport, the 17 year old has elected to take on a bigger challenge.

The Pro Am class features an exciting mix of young drivers getting a grounding in top level GT racing and experienced racers moving up the Ginetta ladder, giving Angliss an ultra-competitive field to race against in his first full season of car racing.

With the move in class also comes a change of machinery for the Coventry based racer, as he steps into a top specification Ginetta G55 GT4. One of the fastest and purest one-make GT cars in the UK, its 3.7 litre V6 engine produces 355bhp and a top speed of 150mph.

Blake Angliss: “With my limited previous experience in car racing, my focus this season is on making as much progress as a driver as possible. To do this, I need to pit myself against the most competitive field I can and that led to the decision to move classes.

“Arguably the most exciting part of this is getting the chance to race the full Ginetta G55 GT4. It’s a huge step up from the G40 I raced last year, but it’s the ideal car to learn GT racing in. I’m looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead and I can’t wait to get the season underway.”

Unfortunately Angliss is having to wait a little bit longer than expected for his debut in the GT4 SuperCup. To maximise the opportunity for fans to attend the event, the opening rounds at Snetterton in Norfolk have been moved back four weeks to 12/13 June.

The 2021 season will take place over eight events as planned though, all in support of the BTCC. After Snetterton, the championship will visit Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Knockhill, Thruxton, Croft and Donington Park before returning to Brands Hatch for the season finale in late October.
