Blake Angliss will make a long-awaited return to the British GT Championship grid this weekend after securing a race seat with Mahiki Racing, piloting one of their brand-new Ginetta G56 GT4’s for the remainder of the 2025 campaign.
After impressing the team with his speed and adaptability during a pre-season test together earlier this year, Angliss was signed up by Mahiki Racing as their official reserve driver at the start of the season and has been integrated within the team across the opening three British GT race events.
A valued member of the team behind-the-scenes, the Coventry-based rising star has now been afforded the opportunity to showcase his talents behind the wheel again as he steps into a Ginetta in a Pro-Am entry alongside Steven Lake.
Mahiki Racing’s transition to Ginetta machinery for the remainder of the season puts Angliss in familiar surroundings, having competed in the manufacturer’s one-make championships for four years prior to his debut in the British GT Championship in 2024.
The 22-year-old racer excelled with eight class wins and 17 podium finishes behind the wheel of a G55 in the 2022 GT4 SuperCup, before stepping up to the newer-generation G56 the following year and scoring 11 podiums from 12 races – including four wins – in the GT Championship.
Angliss will make his British GT return this weekend (20-22 June) at one of the most famous circuits in the world, Spa-Francorchamps. A three-hour race around the iconic Belgian track will provide the perfect opportunity for him to make an immediate impact in the competitive GT4 ranks.
Blake Angliss: “I’m absolutely over the moon to get the chance to return to racing in the British GT Championship. We’ve been working hard to try and get back in a car over the last year and truthfully I didn’t think it would happen this season, so a huge thank you to Mahiki Racing for this opportunity.
“It’s been great working with the team across the season so far, being integrated into their race weekend operations and finding out how they operate. I feel this will make it a seamless transition into the race seat and I’m confident that myself and Steven [Lake] will be a strong partnership.
“The switch to the Ginetta G56 is a positive one and I believe my previous experience with the car will be a real positive and help us to hit the ground running together at Spa. I’m really looking forward to racing at that circuit for the first time and hope we can have a successful weekend.”
The British GT Championship is one of the world’s foremost domestic GT series, showcasing some of the most prestigious sportscars in motorsport through a successful two-class format for GT3 and GT4 machinery, with no less than 10 different marques already represented on the grid this season.
After the championship’s traditional overseas event at Spa-Francorchamps, the remainder of the 2025 season sees visits to Snetterton, Brands Hatch and Donington Park. Every qualifying session and race across the campaign are streamed live globally via the GT World YouTube channel.
Selected rounds are also broadcast live on the Sky Sports F1 channel in the UK, including this weekend’s qualifying and race action at Spa-Francorchamps. Qualifying will take place from 17:35 UK time on Saturday 21 June, with the three-hour race starting at 11:30 on Sunday 22 June.
