Brea Angliss scored a great trio of points finishes as she enjoyed her most consistent weekend of the season so far in the Ginetta Junior Championship at Brands Hatch this past weekend (09/10 September). Having waited over three months to go racing again since her last outing at Silverstone in early June, Angliss was champing at the bit to get back on track again and clocked up no less than 75 laps of the Brands Hatch Indy circuit during official testing on Friday. The weekend’s action would be taking place on the longer Grand Prix layout though, which the 15-year-old rising star would tackle for the first time in qualifying. Quickly getting acquainted with the high-speed ‘GP loop’ in her allocated three flying laps, she set the 15th fastest time overall. Benefitting from the support of her new team Preptech UK and sharing data with a trio of talented team-mates, Angliss made big strides forward in race one. A great launch off the line gained her a place immediately and set the tone for a positive race, as she emerged from some close battles in 12th. There was further progress made in race two as another brilliant start saw her gain three places to 11th. Moving into the top ten on the next lap, she battled hard against some front-runners recovering through the field and secured another strong finish in 13th. The final race saw more typically frenetic Junior racing, with Angliss once again getting stuck into the action in her Ginetta G40. The Coventry-based racer once again came home in 13th to equal her biggest points tally from the season so far. Brea Angliss: “I’m really pleased with how this weekend has gone. It was a big change moving across to a new team, but we’ve worked well together from the off and they’ve done a great job to make a number of improvements with the car. “It was a steep learning curve heading onto the full GP circuit for the first time in qualifying, so it was all about making progress through the races and improving my consistency and lap times. It was really good fun getting to go on the offensive and make some moves, and I’m pleased to come away with three strong finishes.” The 2023 Ginetta Junior Championship season comes to its conclusion with three races at Donington Park next month (21/22 October).
